Tri-City Tosses One-Hitter

The pitching staff for the Tri-City Dust Devils (14-12, 29-34) combined to keep the Vancouver Canadians (11-14, 26-38) to only one hit in the 4-2 victory at Gesa Stadium on Saturday night. Wen-Hua Sung earned the win after throwing three scoreless innings in relief.
During the middle of the game the Tri-City pitching staff retired 18 straight Vancouver batters. Starting pitcher Jason Blanchard, who has not allowed an earned run since July 18th, tossed four scoreless frames in the longest outing of his professional career. Kelvin Melean led the charge at the plate, ending the night 3-for-4. Jack Stronach also provided a boost for the offense, driving in two runs with a two-out double in the bottom of the first inning.
Right-hander Angel Acevedo will toe the rubber for Tri-City in the middle game of the three-game series. The Canadians will counter with right-hander Adam Kloffenstein.
