Mike Peabody launched a 2-run home run and Landon Marceaux struck out eight for the Tri-City Dust Devils (25-30), but the Everett AquaSox (29-29) came away with a 5-2 victory Wednesday night at Everett’s Funko Field.

Peabody’s shot to right field, which followed a two-out single by Osmy Gregorio, tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the 4th inning. It was Peabody’s fifth longball of 2022, moving him to 28 RBI on the year. The left-hand hitting outfielder had two hits in the game, adding an opposite field double in the 6th.

Gabe Matthews and Mitch Nay added hits for the Dust Devils, and Jose Guzman walked three times and stole a base.

Marceaux (2-3) gave up a pair of runs in the 1st and 6th innings, ending a run of 17.2 scoreless innings pitched. The 6th inning runs came off an Andy Thomas 2-run home run, which proved to be the difference in the game. Everett added an insurance run on a sacrifice fly in the 8th to close the scoring.

Peyton Alford (1-0) got the win in relief for Everett, who had to go with an impromptu bullpen day for the second straight night when AquaSox starter Bryce Miller was struck by a Mitch Nay line drive in the 2nd inning. Miller finished the inning but came out following the 2nd.

Leon Hunter pitched the final two innings for his fourth save of the year, securing an Everett franchise-record ninth straight win.

Robinson Piña is scheduled to take the hill for Tri-City Thursday night, when the Dust Devils and AquaSox meet for game three of their six-game set. Jimmy Joyce gets the nod for Everett, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. and the King Beverage Budweiser Pregame Show on the air at 6:50 p.m.
