SPRINGFIELD, MO – An early lead was not enough for the Tulsa Drillers on Wednesday night, as they fell 6-4 on the road to the Springfield Cardinals.

Andre Jackson continued to impress with 4.0 innings of one-run baseball. The Dodgers number 27 prospect allowed just three hits while giving up just one free pass. Later this week, Jackson will head to Coors Field in Denver, Colorado to participate in the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game.

BOXSCORE

Springfield jumped on the board first on an RBI single to right from Delvin Perez in the third inning.

A pair of home runs gave the Drillers the lead. Miguel Vargas launched his sixth home run of the season to left center in the fourth inning. In the fifth, Michael Busch sent a ball over the right center field wall to give Tulsa the lead. The home run was the eighth of the year for the Futures Game participant.

Tulsa carried their 2-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning, before Springfield exploded for a five-run frame with an RBI groundout, RBI double, RBI single and sacrifice fly.

The score remained 6-2 until the top of the eighth inning. Devin Mann cut Springfield’s lead in half with a two-run blast to left center field. Tulsa’s third home run of the evening was Mann’s fourth of the season.

Mann’s long-ball was too little, too late for the Drillers though as the team went quietly in the ninth inning.
