For the first time this season, the Tulsa Drillers have swept the Texas League's Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards. On Monday, Texas League President Tim Purpura announced that Omar Estevez and newcomer Leo Crawford claimed this week's awards.
For the week, Estevez was 10-21 (.476) with four extra-base hits and four runs batted in. Two of his extra-base hits were home runs. The infielder hit safely in five of the six Tulsa games during the week.
Crawford had a memorable Double-A debut on the mound for the Drillers. In his first start for Tulsa, the lefthander allowed only three hits in six shutout innings. He also registered 11 strikeouts without walking a batter in a win over Springfield. Five days later, Crawford worked five more scoreless innings at Northwest Arkansas and departed the game with a lead, but he did not get a decision as the Naturals rallied to gain a win.
