Canadians open season with 6-1 win in Eugene

Vancouver offense shows up early while pitching lives up to the hype

(PK Park - Eugene, OR) - 
Five different Canadians hitters had multi-hit nights while starter RHP Juan Nunez went five scoreless innings to pace Vancouver to a 6-1 victory to open the season in Eugene.
 
CF Reggie Pruitt (1-for-4) had a two-run single in the top of the 3rd inning to open the scoring while DH Owen Spiwak (2-for-4) had a double and an RBI single in the top of the 8th inning to help cap the scoring. Eugene's lone run came in the bottom of the 8th on a solo home run from SS Aramis Ademan.
 
On the mound, Vancouver struck out 10 including five from RHP Jose Espada who pitched two innings of relief allowing the Emeralds only run. RHP Juan Nunez collected the win (1-0) while RHP William Ouellette (1.0IP) and RHP Orlando Pascual (1.0IP) helped secure a victory that moves Vancouver to 6-1 in the past seven Season Openers away from Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.
 
The Canadians will send RHP Dalton Rodriguez (0-0) to the mound against RHP Jesus Camargo (0-0) in Game Two of this series set for 7:05pm. It can be heard live at www.canadiansbaseball.com
