EUGENE, OR – The Canadians were battered into submission in a 10-3 loss to the Eugene Emeralds (Giants) Wednesday night at PK Park.

The C’s took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first with three hits – including RBI knocks from Damiano Palmegiani and Gabby Martinez – but from there it was all Eugene.

The Emeralds scored single runs in the first and third, three in the fifth, one in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth to win. They used five homers – four solo shots and a two-run bomb – to score ten unanswered runs and take over sole possession of first place with a 10-3 defeat of Vancouver.

Seven of nine Canadians starters reached base and five had a knock, but the offense was stymied from the second through the ninth and could only muster a total of five base runners – three walks and two hits – in that span.

Despite falling out of the top spot, the C’s could retake first place on Thursday night. #22 Blue Jays prospect Chad Dallas toes the slab opposite Eugene’s Mason Black. Coverage starts at 6:00 p.m. with an extended edition of the Canadian Tire Canadians Baseball Pregame Show and continues with first pitch at 6:35 p.m. on CanadiansBaseball.com and Sportsnet 650.
