Barrett, Bec & Brodt put Vancouver back on track as C's strike for five in 5th inning to open three-game series vs. Spokane with 7-4 victory

(Avista Stadium - Spokane, WA) - 1B Jake Brodt picked up three hits in his Vancouver debut, C Chris Bec went 3-for-5 with a bases-clearing double while LHP Jordan Barret went 5 2/3 innings of four hit baseball to help the Canadians power past Spokane 7-4 on Saturday night. The victory snapped a three-game losing skid for Vancouver, improving them to 3-6 (.333) on the season.
Tied at 2-2 heading to the top of the 5th inning, Vancouver sent nine batters to the plate chasing Indians starter RHP Tie Tiedemann (0-1) with C Chris Bec providing the big blow with a bases clearing double that scored LF McGregory Contreras (hit by pitch), DH Sterling Guzman (walk) and SS Vincent Capra (walk) as the Canadians built a 7-2 lead.
Spokane got solo home runs from LF Obie Ricumstrict (5th) and SS Cristian Inoa (9th) smacked solo home runs to bring the Indians to within three, but RHP Cobi Johnson got CF J.P. Martinez to fly out to RF Griffin Conine to end the game.
The Canadians will play game two of this three-game road trip on Sunday, June 24th at 3:30pm in hopes of securing their first series of the NWL season. This game can be heard exclusively at www.canadiansbaseball.com.
