SAN JOSE, CA - Hours after being named a Cal League All-Star, Dominic Miroglio helped the Rawhide take advantage of a first-inning error by San Jose. Miroglio laced a double up against the left field wall to score Camden Duzenack from first, which gave the Rawhide a 1-0 lead.

The one-run advantage proved to be plenty of support for fellow All-Star Emilio Vargas, who was on his game once again. Though he allowed a season-high eight hits, Vargas (W, 6-1) wove in and out of heavy traffic on the base paths to toss his third straight shutout start.
The turning point in the game came in the bottom of the third when San Jose (33-35) put together back-to-back one out singles by Wander Franco and Heath Quinn. Gio Brusa hit a broken-bat grounder into right field and Franco was sent around third to try and score. Stephen Smith threw a one-hop strike to the plate, beating Franco by a step to keep the Giants off the board.
Visalia (36-32) followed by putting up two runs in the next half inning on a double by Smith, which proved to be too deep a deficit for the Giants. Vargas departed after five innings and lowered his league-best ERA to 1.04.
The Rawhide tacked on an extra run in the fifth on a Drew Ellis base hit and two more in the sixth on a bases-loaded walk by Marcus Wilson and a single by Miroglio.
Tyler Keele (SV, 1) followed Vargas and pitched the final four innings to secure a 6-0 Rawhide win. Giants starter Sandro Cabrera (L, 6-2) departed after five innings and was tagged for four runs, three earned, on five hits with a pair of strikeouts and a walk.
Miroglio and Mark Karaviotis led the offense with three hits each. Miroglio crushed a pair of doubles, drove home two, and scored a run. Karaviotis scored a pair of runs.
The Rawhide put up 14 hits, achieving double-digit hits for the fourth straight game. San Jose recorded 11 hits but failed to score a run, becoming the seventh team shutout for the Rawhide this year.
RHP Shelby Miller (0-0, 1.80) will start for the Rawhide tomorrow on rehab assignment from Arizona against Giants LHP Mac Marshall (0-0. 1.45). First pitch is at 5 PM and the live radio broadcast will be available on rawhidebaseball.com.
