SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose scored a run in the first, Brandon Van Horn put the Giants up 2-0 with a solo homer in the third. The next hitter, Joneshwy Fargas, reached on a bunt single.

For the second time, Fargas tried to steal second on the first pitch of the next at bat and, for the second time, he was gunned down by Renae Martinez. Then Connor Grey locked in.
Grey (W, 7-6) got two of the final three hitters in the third inning and then settled into a rhythm, setting down San Jose (44-52/10-16) in order in each of his final three innings, leading the Rawhide to a 3-2 win.
Grey tossed his first Quality Start since June 8, going six innings while holding the Giants to two runs on six hits with four strikeouts. He struck out the final two hitters he faced swinging.
Tyler Mark dished a pair of scoreless innings and Tommy Eveld (SV, 11) used just five pitches in the ninth to set down the Giants in order to wrap up a win for Visalia (48-48/11-15).
All three Rawhide runs came in the fourth thanks to a few mistakes by San Jose. Trailing 2-0, Marcus Wilson led off with a walk, then Stephen Smith rolled a grounder at third that Dillon Dobson missed.
With runners on first and second and one out, Renae Martinez hit a single into left, bringing home Wilson to bring the Rawhide within one. Jacob Heyward's throw to the plate airmailed Matt Win and allowed both Smith and Martinez advanced an extra 90 feet.
Jason Morozowski followed that with a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Smith and moving Martinez to third, and Martinez came home on a wild pitch by Carlos Sano. The Rawhide held a 3-2 lead and would never give it up.
Sano (L, 1-2) was tagged for three ones, one of which was earned, on just two hits while striking out six and walking four over five innings. Sandro Cabrera, Ryan Walker, and Nolan Riggs combined to throw four shutout innings of relief for the Giants.
Martinez and Morozowski registered the only RBIs for Visalia today. The Rawhide snapped a season-long five-game losing streak ahead of the first off-day of the second half tomorrow.
Visalia will come home for a six-game homestand on Wednesday against Inland Empire (A-Advanced, Los Angeles Angels). The Rawhide will send RHP Cole Stapler (0-1, 3.00) to the bump against a to-be determined 66ers starter. First pitch is at 7:00 PM and tickets are available on rawhidebaseball.com.
