MODESTO, CA - For the second game in the series, Modesto and Visalia went to extra innings. Today, Austin Mason and the Rawhide took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 12th, but it didn't last long.

In accordance with the new MiLB pace of play rules, Gareth Morgan began the inning at second base. Manny Pazos led off the frame by blooping a single to left field, moving Morgan to third and putting the winning run on base.
Joe Rizzo, who had delivered a walk-off on a fielder's choice ball on Friday night, was inserted as a pinch hitter for Jorge Solano. Three pitches later, Rizzo clubbed a double off of the wall in right, scoring both Morgan and Pazos to send the Rawhide to their second walk-off loss of the season.
The Rawhide had scored a run in both the 11th and 12th innings, but despite having runners in scoring position with fewer than two outs, Visalia (6-4) was unable to bring home an insurance run in either frame. The Rawhide had just two hits in 14 at bats with runners in scoring position today.
Sam McWilliams was brilliant in his third start of the season, tossing five shutout innings while scattering three hits and striking out a season-high seven hitters. He left the game with a one-run lead, but Modesto (4-7) rallied against Wei-Chieh Huang in the sixth to tie the game on a double by Donnie Walton.
Modesto's Randy Bell also delivered a strong start, going seven innings while allowing only one run on three hits with a walk and a pair of strikeouts. Neither starter factored in the decision this afternoon.
Camden Duzenack led the Rawhide offense with a pair of hits, including a triple, two runs scored, and a RBI. Pavin Smith added two RBIs and a double of his own and Daulton Varsho hit a two-out triple in the seventh.
Miguel Aguilar and Tyler Mark both delivered two innings of relief and Mason (L, 0-1) was tagged for his first runs allowed of the season.
Modesto's David McKay (W, 1-0) allowed Smith's RBI double in the top of the 12th, but he stranded Smith on base to keep the Rawhide from scoring an insurance run and won his first game of the season.
Visalia comes home to begin a three-game series against San Jose (Advanced-A, San Francisco Giants) tomorrow evening. The game will match up Visalia RHP Bo Takahashi (1-0, 1.80) and San Jose RHP Logan Webb (0-1, 2.25). First pitch is set for 6:00 PM and tickets for the game are available on rawhidebaseball.com.
