Visalia, CA-It was a pitching duel tonight as the game was scoreless going into the 11th inning. Kevin McCanna , the starting pitcher for the Rawhide, completed four innings giving up two hits and one walk with six strike outs. Trenton Toplikar , San Jose's starter, pitched three innings while allowing one hit and a walk and struck out two batters.
The Giants racked up five hits over the 11 innings. John Riley (2), Joey Bart , Jean Angamos, and Ryan Kirby were all stranded after reaching base. The Rawhide only had three hits over 11 innings. Mark Karaviotis and Anfernee Grier were stranded after their hits.
The hit that mattered the most came in the 11th with runners on first and third with nobody out. Jancarlos Cintron worked the count to 1-1 before he poked an outside pitch into right field to score Camden Duzenack . It was the second straight night the Rawhide won in extras and the second time Duzenack was the winning run.
The losing pitcher was John Russell , who came in relief in the 11th inning. He inherited a runner on second because of the extra inning rule in minor league baseball that puts the player who was the last out of the previous inning on second base. That runner was Duzenack. Jose Caballero attempted to bunt Duzenack to third, but instead he reached first on an error by Russell. Then Cintron came up for his game-winning base hit.
Kyler Stout received the win tonight. He pitched two complete innings and gave up one hit while walking one. In both the 10th and 11th inning, Stout had to work his way out of a jam with runners in scoring position and less than 2 outs. He did just that and every out in those two innings were strike outs for Stout.
