KEIZER, Ore. - The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, in conjunction with the Northwest League of Professional Baseball, announced the 2017 regular season schedule Tuesday.
The upcoming season will mark the 21st year of Volcanoes baseball in the Mid-Willamette Valley as Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer, Oregon will be host to 38 regular season games.
Opening night will fall on Thursday, June 15 when the Tri-City Dust Devils come to town for the first series of NWL action. In addition, Salem-Keizer will present a preseason matchup against the College All-Stars two days prior on Tuesday, June 13.
The five game series versus the Dust Devils will also observe the first fireworks night of the season on Friday, June 16 and a Father's Day celebration on Sunday, June 18.
Salem-Keizer then hits the road and returns on Saturday, June 24 to host the defending champion Eugene Emeralds.
Over the course of the 38 games in Keizer, 20 will take place in the month of August and early September, with the team's final eight contests being played at Volcanoes Stadium.
Throughout the 2017 summer, home games will be headlined by July 4th, featuring the 10th Annual Patriotic Tribute as well as San Francisco Giants night where fans will get to see the Volcanoes embrace the look of their affiliate.
However, the draw of the season will fall on Monday, August 21 when Keizer will be witness to the first coast-to-coast total solar eclipse in nearly 100 years. The eclipse will trace a 67-mile-wide path of totality across the country as the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun and day turns to night for up to almost two minutes. To coincide with the eclipse, the Volcanoes baseball team will play a morning game that will feature the first ever "eclipse delay" in baseball history.
In addition to the uniqueness of this viewing opportunity, the Volcanoes will be hosting a brewfest on Friday, August 18, 19 & 20 featuring local beer, wine and spirits.
• The Volcanoes will play six Friday night and seven Saturday night home games.
• The 2017 home schedule features 10 games with postgame fireworks.
• Salem-Keizer will embark on three separate North Division five-game road trips in a span of 20 days spanning from June 29 to July 19.
The Volcanoes Stadium Box Office and Team Store are both open year-round on all business days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information regarding 2017 ticketing packages, copies of the 2017 schedule, and additional requests, call the Volcanoes Stadium Box Office at 503-390-2225 or visit volcanoesbaseball.com.
