Robert Fick • Wednesday, August 16

Robert Fick returns to West Michigan – where he posted one of the best seasons by any player in Whitecaps history. In 1997 – the first season the Whitecaps became a Detroit Tigers affiliate – Fick posted numbers that still mark as the best in club history, including the highest batting average (.341), on-base percentage (.429), and OPS (.995), total bases (262), doubles (50), runs (100) and extra-base hits (69). Fick went on to play 11 seasons in the Major Leagues between 1998 and 2007. He primarily played as a first baseman and outfielder and was known best by Tigers fans for hitting the final home run at Tiger Stadium – a grand slam as part of an 8-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals on September 27, 1999. Fick played for several teams, including the Tigers, Atlanta Braves, and Washington Nationals. He was a 2002 American League All-Star team member and won a Silver Slugger Award in 1999. Fick retired from baseball in 2009 and has since been involved in various business ventures, including owning and operating a sports training facility in Michigan.

Larry Murphy • Wednesday, June 7

Larry Murphy is known as one NHL’s great defensemen over the past 50 years. During his career, he played for various teams, including the Los Angeles Kings, Washington Capitals, Minnesota North Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Detroit Red Wings. Murphy won four Stanley Cup championships, two with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004. He retired in 2001 with 1,615 regular-season games, 288 goals, 929 assists, and 1,217 points. Murphy currently serves as a broadcast analyst for Detroit Red Wings Hockey on Bally Sports Detroit.

Lomas Brown • Wednesday, June 21

Lomas Brown played in the National Football League for 18 seasons – 11 of which came with the Detroit Lions. He was drafted by the Lions in the first round of the 1985 NFL Draft and earned Pro Bowl honors seven times. Brown was known for his athleticism, strength, and durability on the field, playing in 263 consecutive games at one point in his career. He was a vital member of the Lions’ offensive line during the team’s successful seasons in the 1990s, including their appearance in the 1991 NFC Championship Game. After retiring from football, Brown became a commentator for ESPN and has been involved in various charitable initiatives, including supporting education and youth programs in his hometown of Miami. Brown now serves as a color analyst alongside play-by-play broadcaster Dan Miller on the Lions Radio Network.

Jack Morris • Wednesday, June 28

Jack Morris played for 18 seasons between 1977 and 1994 – most of which came with the Detroit Tigers, leading their pitching staff to win the 1984 World Series. That season, Morris threw a no-hitter on April 7 and was known for his tenacity on the mound and his ability to pitch deep into games, which earned him the nickname “Workhorse.” Morris won 254 games during his career and was a five-time All-Star. He also played a pivotal role in the 1991 World Series as a member of the Minnesota Twins, where he pitched a ten-inning shutout in Game 7 to secure the championship. In 2018, Morris was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

TJ Lang • Wednesday, August 2

TJ Lang, a native of Royal Oak, Michigan, played for ten seasons in the NFL. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft and spent eight seasons with the team, earning Pro Bowl honors in 2016 and 2017. Lang also played for the Detroit Lions for two seasons before retiring in 2019 due to injuries. Known for his versatility and toughness on the field, Lang was widely respected by coaches and teammates for his leadership and work ethic. After his football career, Lang served in various roles for the Lions Radio Network. Off the field, he has been involved in multiple charitable initiatives, including supporting military veterans and promoting education.
