CHARLESTON, WV (September 5, 2017) - West Virginia Power right-hander Mike Wallace has been named as the South Atlantic League's Pitcher-of-the-Week for the final eight days of the 2017 regular season. Wallace follows teammate Eduardo Vera as Pitcher-of-the-Week, giving the Power the final two weekly pitching honors in 2017.

Wallace made one start, pitching game two of a doubleheader against the Lakewood BlueClaws on August 30. He only allowed two hits and struck out four while working a complete game shutout as West Virginia won 2-0 and swept the twinbill.

Wallace was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 30th round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Fairfield University. He joined the Power roster a few days after the start of the 2017 campaign and permanently moved into the Power starting rotation in July.

West Virginia players earned three weekly awards this season. Garrett Brown was the Player-of-the-Week for July 17 through 23 and Vera won the Pitcher-of-the-Week honor for August 21-27.

The Power's 2017 season ended on Monday at Delmarva. West Virginia went 39-31 in the second half and barely missed the postseason. The 2018 season begins on April 5 at Appalachian Power Park. For more information on off-season events, please visit
