2018 season begins at Appalachian Power Park on April 5

Charleston, WV (September 29, 2017) -  The West Virginia Power, a Class A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, are pleased to announced their 2018 regular season schedule. The season opens at Appalachian Power Park on April 5, 2018, as the Power host the defending South Atlantic League champion Greenville Drive to start a seven game homestand.

West Virginia will play 15 home games in the month of April, squaring off with the Lakewood BlueClaws, Asheville Tourists and Rome Braves in addition to the Drive. The Power also have three homestands in May, totaling 15 games. West Virginia has 12 home match-ups in June, 13 in July and 15 in August. 

The Power welcome in affiliates of the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and New York Yankees, amongst others. West Virginia hosts 12 of 13 teams in the league with the Greensboro Grasshoppers being the lone South Atlantic League club missing Charleston in 2018. 

The Power's first road trip of 2018 takes them to Hickory, North Carolina, and Charleston, South Carolina. West Virginia takes trips to 11 of the other 13 cities in the South Atlantic League, but do not play Delmarva or Asheville in their home parks.

West Virginia faces off with the Lexington Legends and the Hickory Crawdads the most out of anyone in the league, 20 games each.

From June 11-14, the Power will make their first and only visit to the Augusta GreenJackets new stadium, which is expected to open in early April.
