2014 season schedule is released

The West Michigan Whitecaps released their 2014 season schedule. The team's 21st season will begin on Thursday, April 3 with a four-game road series at Dayton, and the first home game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8 at 6:35 p.m. versus the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

The crown jewel of the 2014 schedule is on Tuesday, June 17, when the Whitecaps will host the 50th Midwest League All-Star Game.

Fireworks will once again be flying at the ballpark, with 20 Family Fare Fireworks Nights scheduled, including Opening Night, every summertime Wednesday and Saturday home game and selected additional nights.

A first-ever day night double-header is scheduled on Saturday, June 21st against the Ft. Wayne TinCaps. The first game will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the second at 7:00 p.m. Each one will be seven innings and separate tickets will be needed for each game.

Six popular Tiger Friday nights are scheduled, beginning with the Friday, May 30 game against Dayton and every home Friday night thereafter. Three 11 a.m. school days are locked in for Wednesday, May 7, Tuesday, May 20, and Wednesday, May 21. In addition, several weekday noon games are on the schedule, concentrated in the first month of the season for the comfort of fans to take advantage of warmer spring daytime temperatures.

Dime Dog Nights will return in 2014, with five Tuesday nights scheduled for the popular discounted hot dogs.

The Whitecaps front office staff is already working hard to fill the home dates with promotions. Weekly promotions include Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Family Days on Sunday, JQ99 All Faiths Night on Monday, Silver Slugger Night for seniors on Wednesday (changed from Tuesday in the past), and Altogas Thrifty Thursdays.

Many more promotions will be added throughout the off-season. Promotions will be uploaded to the Whitecaps website as they are booked.

Whitecaps games will be back on the radio, on flagship station 107.3 WBBL FM.

Fans can purchase season tickets and mini plans beginning Tuesday, October 22 by calling the Whitecaps front office at (616) 784-4131. Tickets for groups of 20 or more, including private party areas, will go on sale in November. Individual game tickets will go on sale in early 2014.
