Edwin Rios hit a three-run homer and a two-run double to power the Oklahoma City Dodgers to an 11-5 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes on Sunday afternoon.
Rios went deep for the fifth time in his last seven starts to boost his club-leading total to 31 home runs on the year. His 91 RBI are the most by an Oklahoma City player since Nelson Cruz drove in 99 runs in 2008.
Kyle Garlick's home run in the opening frame after a two-out walk to Rios provided the Dodgers with an early lead. An error led to another run in the second before Oklahoma City opened things up with a three-run third. D.J. Peters and Connor Joe produced back-to-back RBI singles, and onw out later, Drew Jackson singled in a run to boost the lead to 6-0.
Wilkin Castillo's RBI double in the fifth got New Orleans on the board, and a wild pitch with the bases loaded an inning later cut the deficit to 6-2, but Rios blasted his three-run shot in the bottom of the inning to put the Dodgers comfortably in front.
Gabriel Guerrero homered in the ninth to conclude the scoring for the Baby Cakes, who equaled the Dodgers' 12 hits but finished 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position.
Nick Neidert (3-4) lasted just 2 1/3 innings and was charged with six runs - five earned - in taking the loss.
Logan Bawcom (3-3) notched a quality start by allowing two runs and seven hits to pick up the victory.
The 'Cakes wrap up the 2019 season on Monday with an 11:05 a.m. first pitch at Bricktown Ballpark.
