Springfield, MO – The Wind Surge improved to 4-1 on the season with a 9-3 victory on Saturday night in front of 2,179 fans at Hammons Field.

Eight of the nine hitters in the line up had a hit and four had multi-hit performances led by Jose Miranda and Mark Contreras three hit, two RBI evenings. Gilberto Celestino, Aaron Whitefield, each had two hits. The Wind Surge finished the game with 14 hits.

The Surge scored a pair of runs in the second to take the early lead. In the third Wichita sent nine batters to the plate and scored three more runs and chased Springfield starter Alavaro Seijas from the game.

Wichita starter Dakota Chalmers worked four innings, allowed three runs on four hits in his Wind Surge debut. Hector Lujan worked two scoreless innings and Zach Neff pitched two and thirds and earned the win in relief.

Wichita has clinched the series winning four of the first five games with the finale coming up Sunday evening.

NOTES- Jimmy Kerrigan was promoted from Wichita to Triple-A St Paul. Aaron Whitefield extended his hit streak to five games and has had a multi-hit game in each of the five contests. The time of game on Saturday of 4:01 is the longest of the season.
