Wichita, KS- The Wind Surge dropped their third straight series to end the first half of the season as they fell short to the San Antonio Missions 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Sawyer Gipson-Long got his third start on the mound for Wichita and pitched five innings and allowed two runs on three hits and tallied five strikeouts and recorded his second loss on the season.

San Antonio struck first as Jorge Ona scored on a throwing error by Surge catcher Andrew Bechtold and Chandler Seagle hit an RBI double to give the Missions an early 2-0 lead in the second inning. Thomas Milone had a strong day at the plate as he went two for four.

Leobaldo Cabrera cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the second inning as he hit an RBI double that scored DaShawn Keirsey, Jr. to make it a 2-1 ballgame. Cabrera finished the day one for three with an RBI and Keirsey Jr. went two for three in the ballgame.

Notes: Wichita has dropped its last seven one run game and is 12-12 on the season in one run games…. The Surge have dropped their last three series matchups… Wichita is now 1-2 in Tumba Vacas uniforms and 0-2 at home… Cole Sturgeon’s hit streak ends at seven games…
