Surge Swept in Doubleheader

Midland, TX- The Wind Surge snapped their six-game winning streak dropping a pair of games to the Midland RockHounds 4-3 and 9-1 on Saturday Night. The Surge struck first in game one behind a two-run RBI single from DaShawn Keirsey Jr to give Wichita an early 2-0 lead. Keirsey Jr.

Midland, TX- The Wind Surge snapped their six-game winning streak dropping a pair of games to the Midland RockHounds 4-3 and 9-1 on Saturday Night.

The Surge struck first in game one behind a two-run RBI single from DaShawn Keirsey Jr to give Wichita an early 2-0 lead. Keirsey Jr. finished the night one for five with an RBI.

Midland scored two runs in the third inning courtesy of a two-run homer from Max Schuemann to tie the game 2-2.

Alex Isola hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the seventh inning to give the Wind Surge a 3-2 lead. Isola finished two for three with an RBI in the game.

The RockHounds scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh as Austin Beck singled to score Brett Harris. Devin Foyle followed to score the game-winning run on a wild pitch from Surge closer Blayne Enlow to give Midland a 4-3 win in game one.

Midland struck first in game two as they scored four runs in the third inning as Kyle McCann hit a base-clearing double to score three runs. McCann later scored on a wild pitch to stretch the lead to 4-0.

The RockHounds busted the game open in the fifth inning behind home runs from Tyler Soderstorm and Marty Bechina to stretch Midland’s lead to 8-0.

The Surge did not have a hit until the sixth inning when Will Holland reached on an infield hit. The lone run came in the sixth inning behind an RBI double from Austin Martin to cut the deficit to 9-1.

Notes: The Surge added infielder Brooks Lee from Class A Cedar Rapids. Lee was a first-round pick in the 2022 draft by the Minnesota Twins.

Coming Up: The Wind Surge will resume action in the series finale against the Midland RockHounds tomorrow, September 18th for a 2:00 first pitch. Kody Funderburk will get the start on the mound for the Surge and left-hander David Leal will be on the hill for the RockHounds.
