Midland, TX- The Wind Surge wrapped up the regular season with a 5-3 victory over the Midland RockHounds as the Surge ended the road trip with a win heading into the postseason. Wichita wins the series winning four of six games and finish with a 78-59 record.

The RockHounds broke the tie in the third inning as Max Schuemann singled to center field to score a run and give Midland a 1-0 lead.

Kody Funderburk got the nod on the hill for Wichita and pitched four innings, allowing two runs, six hits, and struck out eight before being relieved in the fifth inning.

The Surge responded the next inning with a two-run homer from DaShawn Keirsey to take a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Keirsey Jr. finished two for four with two RBIs in the game.

Jair Camargo extended Wichita’s lead in the fifth inning with a two-run homer to give the Surge a 5-2 lead. Camargo had one hit and two RBIs in the afternoon.

Midland added a run in the eighth inning behind an RBI triple from Brett Harris to score a run and cut the deficit to 5-3. Aaron Rozek earned the win in relief and David Leal took the loss.

Shortstop Brooks Lee picked up three hits and scored a run in his second game in a Wind Surge uniform.

Notes: The Surge finished 35-33 on the road in the regular season and 8-4 against the RockHounds…Wichita captured their 50th win over American-League affiliated teams this year.

Coming Up: The Wind Surge will return home to Riverfront Stadium where they will host the Tulsa Drillers in game one of the division series, starting on Tuesday, September 20th. First pitch is at 7:05 and pitching matchups are to be announced. The game will be carried by radio ESPN Wichita 92.3, MiLB.com, and Windsurge.com.
