The Surge Score a Season High 11 Runs in Win Over Springfield

Springfield, MO – The Wind Surge pounded out a season high eleven runs, sixteen hits and four home runs and defeated Springfield 11-7 to win for the third time in their first four games.

Jose Miranda hit a pair of home runs and drove in three runs, Peter Mooney added a two run home run and Jermaine Palacios hit a solo home run to lead the Wichita offense.

The Surge scored three runs in the first, but the Cardinals stormed back getting a two-run home run from Ivan Herrera and scoring four runs. The Wind Surge grabbed the lead in the fourth scoring two runs and never looked back. Wichita scored runs in five consecutive innings and the bullpen finished off the Cardinals.

Wind Surge reliever Jovani Moran earned the win working two scoreless innings and Springfield starter Kyle Leahy suffered the defeat.

NOTES- Wichita made its first error in the eighth inning after starting the season playing 33 clean innings of defense. Aaron Whitefield extended his hit streak to four games and is eight for seventeen on the season with five RBI.
