Cutters Close Out Season

Williamsport P.A. - The Williamsport Crosscutters closed out their 2018 season with a 1-0 loss to the State College Spikes.

 

Manuel Silva got the start, working four shutout frames, scattering two hits while not allowing a walk and striking out three. Silva joined Ethan Lindow and Francisco Morales as the only three Cutters with 60 or more strikeouts this year, all three being teenagers.

 

Ethan Evanko worked a scoreless inning of relief, allowing just a base hit before being relieved by Randy Alcantara in the top of the 6th. Alcantara went the next two innings, allowing a base knock and striking out two in his final outing of the season.

 

Blake Bennett worked the final two innings of the game, allowing an unearned run in the top of the 8th inning, that ended up being the difference. Bennett allowed the run on two hits and three walks, failing to strikeout a batter.

 

The Crosscutters finished the afternoon 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position, and left nine runners on base, including leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th inning.

 

The Crosscutters will return to BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field in June of 2019!
