Auburn, NY. - Williamsport concluded their 2018 road schedule with a 6-2 loss at Auburn, dropping the final road series of the season.
Ben Brown got the start for the second time with the Crosscutters, and didn't have his best stuff, allowing three runs over 2.2 innings of work on 63 pitches, 38 for strikes. Brown surrendered his first home run with Williamsport, a solo shot in the 2nd inning. Brown gave up five hits and walked two while striking out two in the loss.
Alec Bohm got the Cutters on the board in the top of the 3rd inning, singling home Keudy Bocio to tied the game at 1-1 on Bohm's 12th RBI of the season.
Ethan Evanko entered in the bottom of the 3rd inning with the Cutters trailing 3-1. He worked three innings of relief for the Crosscutters, allowing one run on two hits and two walks, while striking out a batter. The lone run he gave up came on a two-out single in the bottom of the 6th, making it 4-1 Auburn.
Eric White took over with two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning with two outs, striking out the first batter that he faced in a Cutters uniform, ending the 6th. In the 7th, White allowed a walk to lead off the inning, which was followed by a two-run home run to make it 6-1 Auburn. White finished the night allowing two runs over 1.1 innings of work, on one hit, a walk and striking out two.
Keylan Killgore worked a clean inning of relief in the bottom of the 8th inning, striking out the side, all three looking. It was his first outing since August 23rd at Batavia.
Seth Lancaster doubled with two outs, followed by a Keudy Bocio RBI single, scoring Lancaster to cut into the deficit in the top of the 9th inning, 6-2. For Bocio it was his 15th RBI of the season.
The Cutters were unable to plate another run, dropping the series ans season finale to the Doubledays, 6-2.
The Crosscutters head home to start their final homestand of the season, welcoming in the State College Spikes to BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
