Williamsport, P.A.- The Crosscutters woes in extra innings continued as they fell 2-1 to the Batavia Muckdogs 2-1 in 10 innings.
Ethan Lindow was looking to rebound from his first loss of the season and got off to a good start in the top of the 1st inning, retiring the side in order, using his defense to record all three outs.
Madison Stokes gave the Cutters starter an early led, ripping a RBI double into the left-center gap, scoring Rafael Marchan to give the Cutters a 1st inning, 1-0 lead. It was the 3rd double and 8th RBI for Stokes.
In the top of the 2nd inning, Lindow ran into his only trouble of the night, issuing a one-out walk to Sean Reynolds. Reynolds came around to score on a RBI double from Bubba Hollins to tie the game at 1-1.
Lindow helped his cause, fielding his position well to get Albert Guaimaro between home and 3rd for the 2nd out and then got a ground ball to end the Muckdogs 2nd, keeping the game tied.
After a perfect 3rd inning, Lindow used inning-ending double plays ion each of the 4th and 5th innings to keep the game knotted at 1-1, each time erasing a lead off base runner for Batavia.
In the 6th inning, Lindow worked around a two-out single, finishing his night in 1-1 tie, getting another no-decision.
Rafael Carvajal entered in the 7th inning, found himself in a bit of a jam with the go-ahead run standing at 3rd base, Carvajal was able to strikeout Igor Baez to get out of the frame, keeping the tie intact.
In the 8th inning, Carvajal found himself in a familiar position, with the go-ahead runner at 3rd base and two outs. This time, Pat Borders went to the bullpen to get Keylan Killgore for a lefty-lefty match up against Reynolds.
Killgore got Reynolds to strikeout swinging, ending the frame and keeping the go-ahead run at 3rd base and the tie in order.
In the bottom of the 9th, Ben Pelletier drilled a C.J. Carter offering into the left-center gap for a one-out double putting the winning run in scoring position. Seth Lancaster was walked intentionally, followed by a walk to Brayan Gonzalez to load the bases with two outs.
Lenin Rodriguez chased a Carter offering for strike three, leaving the bases loaded and ending the first Cutters scoring threat since the bottom of the 3rd inning.
In the top of the 10th, Batavia was able to plate the placed runner on a RBI single from Brayan Hernandez, scoring Gunner Schubert from 2nd base giving the Muckdogs a 2-1 advantage against reliever Abdallah Aris.
In the bottom of the 10th, Jesus Henriquez pinch ran for Lenin Rodriguez and was placed at 2nd base. Keudy Bocio tried to drop a sacrifice bunt, but missed, Igor Baez threw down to 2nd base to get Henriquez to record the 1st out and take away the runner in scoring position.
Bocio drew a walk to put the tying run on base, but would not get any further than 1st as Jonathan Guzman flew out to center field and Rafael Marchan struck out to end the ball game.
The Crosscutters concludes the series with Batavia tomorrow night at BB&T Ballpark, with first pitch scheduled at 7:05 p.m.
