Williamsport, P.A.- Danny Mayer belted his 4th home run of the season, but the Cutters fell 2-1 to Batavia in the series finale.
Ethan Lindow gave the Cutters a solid start, working five shutout frames, allowing four hits, three walks and striking out four in a no decision. The lefty lowered his ERA to 2.72 for the season with the performance.
Danny Mayer gave the Cutters a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 4th inning with his 4th home run of the season. The blast traveled 417 feet and banged off the BB&T Ballpark sign beyond the left field wall, giving Mayer his 15th RBI of the season.
Tyler Carr took over in the 6th inning, allowing a run in the 7th and the 8th innings which tied the game and then gave the Muckdogs a 2-1 lead. Carr finished the night allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits a walk and struck out one while falling to 2-2 with the loss.
Jose Jimenez worked a scoreless 9th inning, allowing a base hit and striking out two batters keeping the deficit at 2-1.
Danny Mayer capped his night with a double to deep left-center, trying to spark another late inning rally. Unfortunately, that was the only base runner Williamsport would get in the final frame, falling in the series finale.
The Crosscutters head into the All Star Break, sending six players and three coaches to State College for Tuesday's game. The Cutters are back in action on Wednesday night in State College, starting a two-game series with the Spikes.
