Wilmington began the comeback effort in the bottom of the sixth. Perkins smacked a line drive down the left field line that was hit just hard enough to go over the fence for a solo home run as the Blue Rocks got on the board, 5-1. Lynchburg earned another insurance run in the top of the eighth. With the bases loaded,
Wilmington answered in the bottom of the eighth. With Perkins on third, Rivera drew a four-pitch walk to put runners on the corners with two outs. Viloria followed up with a single to score Perkins. Viloria was caught at second trying to stretch the hit to a double while the run scored to keep the game close at 6-4.
