Wilmington, DE- Jonathan Bowlan was named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for the period July 15-22 the league office announced on Monday. It marks the second weekly award for a Wilmington pitcher this season as Daniel Lynch was the first to be recognized for the period May 20-27.

Bowlan tossed just the second no-hitter in franchise history and the first in 19 years on July 15 at Frawley Stadium against the Carolina Mudcats. In fact, the righty was a second-inning defensive miscue away from tossing a perfect game in the Blue Crew's 3-0 victory over Carolina.
Bowlan was dominant. The right-hander allowed just six balls to escape the infield all night. The only base runner reached on a one-out error in the top of the second. Wes Rogers hit a grounder to third that Dennicher Carrasco  fielded cleanly, but his throw across the diamond sailed too high for an error.
The 22-year-old Arlington, TN native finished his night with nine strikeouts, did not walk a batter and threw 98 total pitches, 63 of which went for strikes. Bowlan is ranked the 29th-best prospect in the Royals' organization according to MLBPipeline.com. He was a mid-season South Atlantic League All-Star with Low-A Lexington before earning a promotion to Wilmington on June 23. With the Rocks so far, he is 4-1 with a 2.31 ERA in six starts.
The Blue Rocks wrap up a six-game road trip on Monday, July 22 with their final game against the Carolina Mudcats in the regular season. First pitch is 7:00 p.m. with lefty Kris Bubic on the mound for the Blue Rocks. Fans can listen to the action with the Voice of the Blue Rocks Cory Nidoh on the Blue Rocks Radio Network on 89.7 WGLS-FM.
