Wilmington, DE - In just his second start with the Wilmington Blue Rocks, left-hander Daniel Tillo tossed six scoreless innings and earned his first-career Advanced-A win in a 6-1 victory over the Salem Red Sox Saturday night at Frawley Stadium. The Rocks pounded out 11 hits in the victory while Kort Peterson launched his fifth homer of the season.

The Blue Rocks took advantage of Salem's starter Tanner Houck's lack of control in the third inning. In the frame, Wilmington sent nine men to the plate and scored three runs. The inning was set when the Rocks drew three walks through the first four batters to load the bases. Salem's second baseman Brett Netzer then booted a groundball off the bat of Nick Heath to allowed two runs to score. Two batters later, Khalil Lee followed with an RBI single to give the Rocks a 3-0 lead.
Wilmington added another run in fourth on a two-out, RBI single by Gabriel Cancel before Peterson belted his fifth homer of the season to put the Rocks out comfortably, 6-0. During that span, Tillo was spinning a gem. He worked six shutout innings, allowed just a pair of hits, walked one and struck out seven to earn his first-career Advanced-A win. Carter Hope tossed the final three innings in relief to earn his first save as a Blue Rock. He allowed just one run and struck out four to keep the Red Sox lineup at bay.
Wilmington and Salem continues the series with the third game of the series on Sunday, May 27 at 1:35 p.m. Righty Jace Vines (2-5, 5.48 ERA) makes the start for Wilmington while right-hander Bryan Mata (2-2, 3.51 ERA) starts for Salem. Fans can listen to the game as Matt Janus and Cory Nidoh have the call on 89.7 WGLS-FM.
PEBBLES OF KNOWLEDGE:
Starting Pitcher Daniel Tillo earned his first win as a Blue Rock in his Frawley Stadium debut on Saturday night. The lefty carried a no-hitter through the first five innings before it was broken up in the sixth inning by a Santiago Espinal single. Overall, he pitched six scoreless innings while giving up only two hits and one walk. The left-hander racked up seven strikeouts, his second highest total this season.
Kort Peterson hit his fifth home run of the season to push his RBI total to 20 on the year. Peterson becomes the third Blue Rock to drive in 20 or more runs so far in the campaign. Only Khalil Lee (23) and Emmanuel Rivera (29) have driven in more runs than Peterson. It was Peterson's first home run in 16 games with his last coming at home against Potomac on May 7.
The Blue Rocks improve to an impressive 15-2 when leading after seven innings and a perfect 18-0 when leading after eight. This also marks just the fourth time this season the Rocks managed to win back-to-back games. The longest win streak by Wilmington this year was achieved back in April when the Blue Rocks took three of the first four games against the Frederick Keys from the 19th to the 21st.
