At the halfway point of the Wilmington Blue Rock’s final home series against the Hudson Valley Renegades, the Washington National affiliates sought to break the 1-1 tie– instead, they found themselves on the losing end of an 8-0 blow out.

Hudson Valley started off strong at the top of the first inning when they recorded their first three runs of the night. Wilmington’s starting pitcher, Rodney Theophile, walked the first two batters faced, Anthony Seigler and Jasson Dominguez. After a flyout from T.J. Rumfield, Seigler would score the first run of the night and push Dominguez to third. Dominguez would score on a fielders choice and Rumfield would run home to end the inning off of a force out from Eduardo Torrealba to end the first half inning of the night 3-0.

After the Blue Rocks failed to respond during the bottom of the first, the Renegades would continue to build their lead during their next at-bats with a sole run off of the bat of Dominquez who recorded his fourth triple of the season to send Seigler over home plate once more.

Although the third and fourth innings were quiet for both teams, Hudson Valley woke up in the fifth to add three more runs. Relief pitcher Andres Alvarez walked the first batter he faced, Tyler Hardman, and later loaded the bases by walking Carlos Narvaez. Hardman would record the fifth run of the night when Torrebela reached on a fielder's choice. This was followed by two back-to-back runs after an RBI single from Benjamin Cowles scored Rumfield and Narvaez scored during a fielding error by Wilmington’s third baseman, Paul Witt. Hudson Valley went into the sixth inning 7-0.

Despite the high scoring from the Renegades, the Wilmington Blue Rocks’ bats stayed silent. At the top of the sixth, Hardman capped off Hudson Valley’s scoring with his 22nd home run of the season– tying the team’s single-season record for most home runs hit – and ending the game 8-0.

Starting pitcher for the Renegades, Edgar Barclay, recorded his seventh win of the night for his six strikeouts over his five innings pitched. Wilmington starter Rodney Theophile was handed the loss for the night after allowing four runs over four innings pitched.

The Blue Rocks will attempt to make their series comeback against the Hudson Valley Renegades on Saturday, September 9, with first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
