WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 19, 2022) — Bowling Green got the best of the Dash in a 7-5 win, getting the series victory in a home run-laden game with 7 of the 12 runs coming off of home runs.

In the bottom of the first, the second batter of the game, Osleivis Basabe, hit a solo home run into left-center field to put the Hot Rods on the board first. Two innings later, Kyle Manzardowould drive in Basabe on a home run of his own, bringing their lead to 3-0.

In the top of the fourth, Duke Ellis would single to open the inning but got thrown out trying to steal second. However, this didn’t stop Winston-Salem as the next three batters reached base, making the bases juiced for Adam Hackenberg**. **Hackenberg would hit a sacrifice fly into right field, scoring a run and bringing the Dash within two.

In the fifth, Bowling Green added another run to their total with two outs. Manzardo walked and then took second on a wild pitch. A line drive into center field by Tanner Murray would be more than enough to score Manzardo and bring the Hot Rods lead back up to three. The rejuvenated lead wouldn’t hold for long as in the top of the sixth, Bryan Ramos hit a three-run home run after the first two batters of the inning managed to get on base. Unfortunately for Winston-Salem, Bowling Green answered right back in the bottom of the frame. With Heriberto Hernandez drawing a walk with one out and a two-out error that allowed Johan Lopezto reach first, Dru Baker hit a double to score both Hernandez and Lopez. In the bottom of the eighth, they added some insurance to their lead with a two-out solo home run by Lopez, giving them a three-run once again.

Winston-Salem wouldn’t go without a fight though. With two outs, Brandon Bossard reached on a single. Tyler Osikscored Bossard, putting the Dash within two runs. However, Bowling Green closer Joe LaSorsagot Luis Mieses to strike out, sealing the win and series victory for the Hot Rods.
