WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (September 2, 2022) — The Winston-Salem Dash fell 7-1 to the Greensboro Grasshoppers to even the series at two games apiece.

The ‘Hoppers got their offense going early with both Mike Jarvis reaching on an error then Hudson Head singling into right to push Jarvis to third. An errant pickoff move then allowed Jarvis to score, before Head scored on an RBI single from Jacob Gonzalez*. *

Greensboro extended their lead further in the bottom of the second. Sammy Siani singled with one man gone, then Jackson Glenn doubled down the right field line to plate Siani, and give the Grasshoppers a 3-0 edge. Siani had advanced to third on the Glenn double, so he was able to score when Mike Jarvis floated a sacrifice fly into center field to make it a 4-0 lead.

After the third and fourth innings went by scoreless, Jacob Gonzalez walked to begin the bottom of the fifth. The very next batter Abrahan Gutierrez doubled to quickly give Greensboro two runners in scoring position. Chase Plymell was able to strike out the next two batters, but Ernny Ordonez drove both men home with a line drive to right field to make it 6-0 ‘Hoppers.

Winston-Salem’s Caberea Weaver doubled to open up the Dash 6th, then was pushed to third on a groundout. Colby Smelley was able to plate Weaver with an RBI groundout to short, and the Dash were on the board down 6-1.

However, Greensboro got a single and a pair of walks to load the bases in the home half of the frame. Abraham Gutierrez then got that run right back with an RBI single, and the Grasshoppers pushed the ballgame to 7-1.

The Dash could not manage a comeback in this one, as they lost 7-1. Domingo Gonzalez got the win out of Greensboro’s bullpen, while Luis Moncada was saddled with the loss.
