WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 26, 2022) — Winston-Salem earned a series victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades with a 4-1 win in the final game of the week.

Duke Ellis keyed the Dash with his speed in the first inning. He beat out an infield single to open the game, before stealing both second and third base. With one out, Oscar Colas chopped a grounder over the pulled-in infield to score Ellis.

Winston-Salem starter Andrew Dalquist worked through the first two innings unscathed, but allowed a solo home run to Everson Pereira in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1.

The game stayed tied through the sixth inning, thanks to rock solid pitching from both sides.

TJ Sikkema wound up firing 3.2 innings of one-run ball for Hudson Valley, then Leif Strom tossed 2.1 scoreless frames, with the pair combining for five strikeouts. For the Dash, Dalquist worked four innings with just the lone earned run, and four punchouts. Wilber Perez worked one scoreless inning in relief of Dalquist. He was succeeded by Chase Plymell**,** who fired a scoreless top of the seventh.

In the bottom half, Ben Norman singled and later advanced to second base on a wild pitch. With two outs, Duke Ellis singled into centerfield. However, Everson Pereira bobbled the ball, which allowed Norman to score and put Winston-Salem ahead 2-1.

After another scoreless frame from Plymell and Skyler Arias, Colson Montgomery drew a four pitch walk. Colas then scorched the first pitch of the at bat into the right field corner at 110 miles per hour. Montgomery was able to score from first base, and the Dash lead 3-1 with Colas standing on second. A groundout advanced Colas to third base, and then a wild pitch saw Colas break for home and score to put the Dash ahead 4-1.

Once again, Vince Vannelle got the call to handle the ninth inning for Winston-Salem. He worked a perfect inning, to lock down a 4-1 Dash win, and a series victory as well. Vannelle earned his fourth save, with Plymell taking the win, and Nelvin Correa taking the loss.
