Winston-Salem Shut Down In Opener Against Rome

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (May 10, 2022) — The Dash dropped game one against the Rome Braves 6-1.

Neither club scored through two innings, until Rome drew first blood in the third. They grabbed a 1-0 edge on a Vaughn Grissom single to score Beau Philip**.**

Winston-Salem battled back right away though, in the top of the fourth. Tyler Osik lined a single into center to bring in Bryan Ramos, and knot the ballgame up at 1-1.

Another couple scoreless frames went by, before Braves found a rhythm in the sixth. First, Christian Robinson singled through the right side to drive in both Jacob Pearson and Beau Phillip. Later in the inning, Cody Milligan reached on an error which allowed Cade Bunnell to cross home with a 4-1 Braves lead.

Rome tacked on two more runs, thanks to a Landon Stepehens solo shot in the seventh, and another RBI from Vaughn Grissom in the eighth. The Braves pitching staff held Winston-Salem scoreless apart from the fourth, good for a 6-1 win in the series opener.

Lisandro Santos took the win for Rome, and Isaiah Carranza suffered the official loss.
