Winston-Salem Stymied in Brooklyn

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (August 4, 2022) — Strong pitching by the Brooklyn Cyclones derailed the Dash in a 5-1 lightning-shortened loss.
Andrew Dalquist breezed through the first two innings, before Brooklyn opened the scoring in the third inning. He issued walks to Jaylen Palmer, Matt Rudick, and Rowdey Jordan to load the bases with one out. After a conversation on the mound, Alex Ramirez roped a single down to left field to score Palmer and Rudick, giving the Cyclones a 2-0 lead.
The Dash couldn’t push a run across in the fourth or fifth, giving Brooklyn a chance to extend their lead. In the bottom of the fifth, the Cyclones added a run on back to back doubles by Alex Ramirez then Nic Gaddis. Later, a Jose Peroza double pushed both Gaddis and Stanley Consuegra across.
Harvin Mendoza got Winston-Salem their first run in the seventh inning on a solo home run, but any hopes of a comeback were shot down when lightning caused the game to be called off in the bottom of the seventh. Dominic Hamel grabbed his third win of the year, with Dalquist taking the loss.
