CLINTON, IA - The Clinton LumberKings defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 3-2 on Saturday night at Ashford University Field. The win allowed the LumberKings to complete a three-game series of the Rattlers. All three of their wins in this series were by one run.
Jerar Encarnacion gave Clinton (9-6) a 1-0 lead with a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the first. The homers was Encarnacion's fifth of the season. It was also the fifth home run the LumberKings have hits against the Rattlers in this series.

Clinton added to their lead with another run in the second inning. Sean Reynolds drew a lead-off walk. Bubba Hollins followed with a double into the corner in left and Reynolds scored all the way from first for a 2-0 advantage.

Wisconsin (6-9) pulled to within a run in the top of the fourth inning. Gabriel Garc

Thomas Jones padded the Clinton lead with another solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Brice Turang extended his current hitting streak to six games with a single in the top of the fifth and made it to third base on an error. Another Clinton error, their fourth of the night, allowed Turang to score and the Rattlers were down by one run again.

The Timber Rattlers got a runner on in the top of the sixth inning when the LumberKings committed their fifth error of the game, but a 6-4-3 double play on the next pitch ended the inning.

In the ninth, Connor McVey singled to start the inning, but he was erased on a force play. Je'Von Ward came on to pinch-hit with two outs and drew a walk to move the tying run into scoring position and put the lead run on base.
