GRAND CHUTE, WI – Kyle Slaton, the Director of Grounds for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, has been named as one of ten winners of the Sports Turf Managers’ Association President’s Award for Leadership. The announcement was made as part of the 32nd STMA Conference and Exhibition on January 14, 2021.

“This year it is my distinguished honor to present the President’s Award for Leadership,” said STMA President Jimmy Simpson. “Typically, the president selects one awardee. This year I believe ten people deserve this award for their extra efforts to bring relevant resources to our membership during this pandemic.”

Slaton, who has been with the Timber Rattlers since October of 2018, was a member of STMA’s Technology Committee and helped plan virtual town hall meetings for the members of the organization during the past year.

“We are extremely proud of Kyle and he is extremely deserving of this recognition,” said Timber Rattlers President and CEO, Rob Zerjav. “This year has been specifically challenging for Kyle as we were the host for the Brewers alternate training site and, even given the COVID restrictions, he was able to provide a first-class experience and playing surface for the Brewers players and coaches. On top of that, he remained a resource for his fellow sports turf managers and continued to assist our organization with other events and projects.”
