KINSTON, NC --Anderson Tejeda homered and collected his fourth multi-hit game of the season in the Wood Ducks' 14-4 loss to the Dash on Wednesday afternoon. Despite the defeat, Down East opened Grainger Stadium with a winning homestand (4-3) and their first series win of the season.

The Woodies didn't manage their first hit until the fourth inning off of Winston-Salem starter Dylan Cease. Chuck Leblanc singled through the left side with two outs and came in to score on Josh Altmann's RBI double down the left field line. The Dash led 4-1 after Altman's fourth run batted in of the year, and they would respond with a three-run homer in the top of the fifth.
In the bottom of the fifth, Tejeda faced Cease with two on and two out, trailing 7-1. He turned on an 0-1 pitch to right-center and carried the wall for his second homer of the season. All four runs for the Woodies scored with two outs on Wednesday.
It would be the closest the Wood Ducks came to closing the deficit. Winston-Salem would score the next seven runs unanswered. Catcher Nate Nolan set a career-high with five runs batted in as ever starter had a hit.
Eight of nine Wood Duck hitters reached with a hit, as Leblanc, Blaine Prescott, and Andretty Cordero all extended hitting streaks on the afternoon.
Down East hits the road for the next seven games, starting with the first series in Myrtle Beach of the season, Thursday through Sunday. First pitch for Thursday night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with Jonathan Hernández on the mound for the Woodies.
