Wood Ducks and Vivian Howard Announce Peanut Butter Drive

By Down East Wood Ducks | June 7, 2017 11:35 AM ET

Kinston, North Carolina - The Down East Wood Ducks and Vivian Howard announced earlier today they will hold a drive to collect jars of peanut butter before the Wood Ducks vs. Myrtle Beach game on Thursday, June 15th.   Gates open at 6 pm and first pitch is scheduled for 7 pm.

Any fan that donates a jar of peanut butter will receive a $3 discount on a game ticket for that night. In addition to the ticket discount, the first 200 fans that donate a jar of peanut butter will receive a free slice of Papa John's pizza inside of the ballpark.

Representatives from the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina will be on site to collect the jars of peanut butter.   Over 500,000 people in the 34 counties served by the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina struggle with food insecurity.

"Peanut Butter is on the Food Bank's most needed items list for several reasons," said George Young, Eastern Regional Director for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. "It's filled with protein and other essential nutrients, it's filling, it's easy to store and transport, and it's a favorite food for many people, especially the little ones."

"We look forward to working with Vivian and the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina on the peanut butter drive and hope to make it an annual part of our community outreach program", said Wade Howell, General Manager of the Wood Ducks.
