MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Down East had just enough offense in a 6-5 victory over Myrtle Beach on Thursday night. Anderson Tejeda stole the throne from Chuck Leblanc atop the league's RBI leaderboard with three on the night.

Jonathan Hernández worked into the seventh in a gritty performance with six strikeouts for his second win of the season. He left three runners on base in his first two innings and got some help from his defense. The highlight of the night was a Leody Taveras perfect throw home to cut down Andruw Monasterio to end the second inning.
The bats started hot for the Wood Ducks, with five runs in the first two frames. Tejeda had an RBI double and a two-run single to lead the way. Preston Scott and Blaine Prescott added run-scoring hits to push the Woodies ahead early.
Myrtle Beach's runs came on solo homers off Hernandez, but were locked down for the remainder of his outing. He retired 12 of his final 13 batters to keep his ERA under two at 1.76.
Andretty Cordero emphatically added to the lead in the sixth with a towering solo homer to left that exited the bat at 105 MPH with an estimated distance of 428 feet. It was his second home run of the season and turned out to be the game-winning RBI.
The Pelicans mounted a rally in the eighth inning to score three runs, but C.D. Pelham struck out D.J. Wilson to leave the bases loaded and end the threat.
Two batters reached in the ninth, but Pelham's four outs in his save were all strikeouts as he locked down his second save of the season.
Down East looks to make it back-to-back on Friday night at 7:05 in Myrtle Beach. Michael Matuella will be added to the roster and make his third start of the season. You can listen to the pregame show starting at 6:45 on WRNS-AM Sports/Talk 960 The Bull or the TuneIn Radio app.
