WORCESTER, M.A. — The Worcester Red Sox (72-69) opened the final series of the season at Polar Park with a rain-shortened victory, a 3-2 win over the Syracuse Mets (59-83) on Tuesday night. The game was called after the game entered a rain delay following the top of the sixth inning.

The WooSox plated all three of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, a frame that began with two singles and a walk. That loaded the bases for Jaylin Davis, who lifted a 1-2 pitch to right for a two-run double to put the home team on top. Nick Sogard was next, and he cracked an RBI single up the middle, scoring the third and final run of the night for Worcester.

In his first Triple-A start since May 7, Kyle Hart earned the win. The left-hander pitched six scoreless innings, working around eight hits and allowing two runs.

Syracuse’s runs off Hart came on one swing, a two-run home run to left-center by Mets’ top prospect Francisco Alvarez. The ball left the bat at 103 miles-per-hour and went 416 feet to the berm.

Offensively, Johan Mieses, Ryan Fitzgerald and Sogard recorded two-hit nights, and six of the nine starters reached base for Worcester.

The WooSox continue the six-game home series on Wednesday night at 6:45 p.m. against the Syracuse Mets. On the mound, Victor Santos (2-4, 6.54) faces Joey Lucchesi (0-0, 0.00). Radio coverage is live at 6:25 p.m. on 100.1 FM The Pike, 98.9 Nash Icon and the WooSox Radio Network, while television coverage is on NESN+.
