WORCESTER, M.A. — For the second straight game, two big offensive innings gave the Rochester Red Wings (10-20) a win over the Worcester Red Sox (17-13), this time a 12-5 final on Sunday afternoon at Polar Park. The WooSox played as “Los Wepas de Worcester” as a part of “Copa de La Diversión,” MiLB’s season-long series embracing the culture and color of the Hispanic and Latino communities.

Rochester began the game with homers in the first and second innings, a solo shot from Carter Kieboom and a two-run job by Tres Barrera against starter Kyle Hart to make it 3-0.

But in the bottom of the second, Worcester's offense answered back. After a Jeter Downs walk, Connor Wong doubled him home and then scored on Chris Herrmann's single. After a strikeout and a walk, Marcus Wilson fisted an RBI single to short right to tie the game at three. The next batter, Franchy Cordero, plated two on a double to right to give the WooSox a 5-3 lead.

The Red Wings made it a 5-5 game in the fifth on a two-run homer to center by Luis Garcia. They would put up four in the sixth on an RBI single from Blake Swihart and Barrera's second homer, then add three in the seventh behind a Yasmany Tomas long ball and a Garcia run-scoring double.

The benches cleared in the top of the seventh after Tres Barrera was hit by Caleb Simpson. Both Barrera and Simpson were ejected. Rochester pitcher Kyle Lobstein, manager Matt LeCroy and third baseman Carter Kieboom were all ejected in the bottom of the inning, after Lobstein plunked Herrmann.

Out of the pen, Kaleb Ort put together his second straight scoreless outing with a runless eighth inning. The right-hander has allowed one earned run in 12 appearances this season.

The WooSox begin a six-game road stretch Tuesday against the Syracuse Mets at 6:35 p.m. Radio coverage starts live at 6:15 on 100 FM The Pike and the WooSox Radio Network. Worcester’s Ryan Weber (1-2, 5.14) faces Akeem Bostick (0-1, 8.22) at NBT Bank Stadium.
