WooSox Internships

The Worcester Red Sox are looking for highly motivated individuals, team players, and those who are interested in working across many areas of the front office during the 2021 baseball season. Interns will be required to work for 30-35 hours per week and must be available during the daytime, nights, weekends, and holidays. The WooSox internship program is a comprehensive academic and professional experience that aims to help students develop the skills they need to build a career in the sports and entertainment industry. Although interns will be assigned to specific departments for the summer, they will also be expected to assist with tasks across all areas of the WooSox Front Office as needed.

We ask that you apply for an internship in the department you are MOST interested in below.


  • Facilitate in-kind donation requests from various organizations
  • Assist with planning and implementation of community events
  • Develop and execute programs that align with our Community Relations and WooSox Foundation efforts
  • Build and manage relationships with non-profit organizations in Worcester and across New England to help improve the community

The ideal candidate is energetic, customer friendly, organized, and likes to work on their feet. Experience in customer service and/or retail is preferred but not required. Game day duties include:

  • Vend programs and other merchandise as needed
  • Help to organize and keep stores and merchandise storage rooms clean
  • Assist program seller and any other merchandise vendors
  • Assist customers and other game day staff as needed
  • Run cash register when needed
  • Assist with the re-stock of the store and preparing inventory for sale
  • Assist with the closing of our centerfield shop
  • Receive and check shipments as they come in throughout the season

We are looking for candidates who possesses exemplary interpersonal skills, a proficiency in writing, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Schedule pre-game ceremony honorees
  • Assist with writing scripts for all ceremonies
  • Provide administrative support to the department
  • Help with community appearances
  • Execute pre-game ceremonies and in-game promotions

The ideal candidate is hard-working, proactive, works well under pressure, and enjoys being part of a team.


  • Compile statistics and game information for media and team daily
  • Write player and team features for website and social media
  • Write game recaps for media and website following every home game
  • Assist with developing social media strategy
  • Assist in various WooSox publications
  • Perform press box duties during games
  • Participate in PR and community relations events
  • Possible broadcast opportunities, including player interviews for radio and TV

Among the many different tasks that will come up daily to support the department, primary areas of focus include:

  • Assist with the planning and execution of various team promotions, giveaways, and theme nights; may also be required to manage and oversee entire promotional days/nights based on department needs
  • Help manage the Worcester Red Sox Booster Club (customer service, creating and delivering experiences and benefits to members, creating and implementing new ways to boost membership, etc.)
  • Help manage the WooCrew Kids Club, including creating and implementing new ways to grow WooCrew
  • Provide support to WooSox Ambassadors and Smiley Team members as necessary.

The ideal candidate should be willing to be fully immersed in all aspects of production.


  • Edit batting practice photos and post pregame photo/video on WooSox social media channels
  • Edit social media templates and help social media coordinator with posts
  • Assist with in-game production (working a position or on pre-production)
  • Help television production department creating content for broadcasts, working on the broadcast, and running for the producer.


  • Assist in execution of corporate partnerships, special events, and tickets.
  • Create and assist with non-game day events.
  • Assist and execute sales process (all revenue streams of the club).
  • Assist in the execution of client contracts of the club.
  • Assist with daily ticket operation duties (printing of tickets, merchandise assistance, etc.)


  • Assist the Director and Manager of Operations in scheduling, training, and managing all game-day employees
  • Ensure all game day staff is abiding by proper work rules and code of conduct
  • Help manage the credentialing database for all part-time staff and external third-parties on-site
  • Responsible for multiple game day duties at Polar Park
  • Assist with “on call” such as wheelchair runs, on-site deliveries, and other customer service related needs
  • Help ensure a superior fan experience

If selected after submitting your application, you will be notified about virtual interviews. Final decisions for the internship program are not made until late March, or even early April. Please take this into consideration as you apply.
