HARTFORD- Mike Gerber fed off of Goats pitching Thursday night, slugging two home runs and going 4-for-5 with three RBI to propel the Erie Seawolves to a 7-1 win over the Yard Goats at Dunkin' Donuts Park. The Detroit Tigers affiliate pounded out 15 hits for its third straight victory to help pitcher A.J. Ladwig win his Double A debut.

Erie, which loaded the bases with nobody out against starter Ryan Castellani in the first inning but failed to score, took a 1-0 lead in the second, when lead off hitter Harold Castro singled home A.J. Simcox with two outs. The Detroit Tigers affiliate made it 2-0 in the third on Gerber's opposite field home run to left.
The Yard Goats cut the lead in half in the fourth inning on Ryan McMahon's fifth home run of the season, into the upper deck in right. But Erie got the run back with a Gabriel Quintana homer in the eighth inning. Then in the ninth inning, Gerber provided the crushing blow with a two-run blast into the upper deck in right-center, the highlight of a four-run frame.
Emerson Jimenez led Hartford with two hits.
Game two of the series is Friday night at 7:05 p.m. LH Jack Wynkoop pitches for Hartford against RH Myles Jaye for Erie. The game can be heard on 1410AM WPOP and on newsradio1410.iheart.com
