Yard Goats Defeat Senators 4-2 on Saturday

Manchester, NH- The Hartford Yard Goats (72-60) defeated the Harrisburg Senators (69-64) on Saturday afternoon by the score of 4-2 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Hartford OF Rosell Herrera had two hits, including a homer and double and scored twice as the Yard Goats ended a 3-game losing streak and avoided a series sweep. Hartford RHP Yency Almonte pitched six innings and allowed just two runs on four hits to improve to 3-1 and Jerry Vasto earned his ninth save.   

The Yard Goats scored first with a pair of runs in the first inning on a two run home run by Rosell Herrera off Harrisburg starter Mark Blackmur. Herrera blasted a line drive shot over the right field fence scoring Omar Carrizales, his fifth home run of the season, giving the Yard Goats a 2-0 advantage.   

Harrisburg tied the game at 2-2 with two runs in the third inning off Hartford starter Yency Almonte. Mark Blackmur and Rafael Bautista singled and both scored on a double by Isaac Ballou, tying the game at 2-2.

The Yard Goats put together a rally with two outs to take a 3-2 lead in the third inning. With two outs, Herrera doubled to left field.   Dillon Thomas followed with a single, scoring Herrera and giving the Yard Goats a 3-2 lead. Omar Carrizales ripped an RBI double in the fifth inning to make it a 4-2 game.  

Meanwhile, Yency Almonte pitched well in six innings allowing just two runs on four hits. Rayan Gonzalez and Jerry Vasto combined to pitch three scoreless innings.      

The Yard Goats open up a four game series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Monday night (7:05 PM) at The Diamond in Richmond, Virginia. The game will be broadcast live on News Radio 1410 WPOP.
