MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game road trip with a 7-3 win at the Charlotte Knights (Triple-A, Chicago White Sox) on Wednesday afternoon in Charlotte.

First baseman Alfonso Rivas brought home the early Memphis runs. The left-handed hitter got the scoring in the first with an RBI double. Two innings later, Rivas made it 3-0 with a two-run double into the right field corner.

For insurance, the longball was key for the Redbirds. In the sixth, second baseman Thomas Saggese smacked a solo homer for his third blast of the season. In the top of the ninth, center fielder Victor Scott II drilled his first career Triple-A homer, a two-run blast. In total, Memphis smacked six extra-base hits.

Redbirds starter Gordon Graceffo (3-2) allowed one earned run on four hits, walked two and struck out five in his 5.0-inning start. The right-handed pitcher allowed two runs in the fourth inning after a Memphis throwing error.

MLB Rehabber Dylan Carlson went 0-for-3 at the plate and started the game in center field.

The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park to begin a 13-game homestand against the Norfolk Tides on Tuesday, May 7 with first pitch for 6:45 p.m. CDT.
