Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored five runs over the eighth and ninth innings to come back and defeat the Round Rock Express, 7-5, Sunday afternoon at Dell Diamond as they completed a six-game road series sweep. Trailing, 5-2, entering the eighth inning, Michael Busch connected on a two-out RBI double. Devin Mann followed and sent a two-run home run out to left field to tie the score, 5-5. After OKC reliever Wander Suero held Round Rock scoreless in the bottom of the inning, Patrick Mazeika hit a two-out double for OKC in the ninth inning. Bradley Zimmer entered the game as a pinch runner for Mazeika and scored when Ben DeLuzio knocked a RBI single into right field, giving OKC a 6-5 edge. The Dodgers (28-11) were able to add another run later in the inning as DeLuzio scored on an Express error during a rundown for a 7-5 advantage. The Express (21-17) put the potential game-tying runs on base and brought the potential go-ahead run to the plate with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Suero (3-0) retired the next two Express batters to end the game and secure the win. The teams had exchanged two-run homers in the first inning. Busch hit the first pitch of his at-bat out to right field for a 2-0 OKC lead in the top of the first inning. Then in the bottom of the inning, Round Rock’s Blaine Crim hit a two-run homer to tie the score. Crim added another two-run homer in the third inning and Davis Wendzel’s RBI double in the sixth inning put Round Rock in front, 5-2, as the Dodgers were held to one hit from the second through seventh innings before connecting on six hits over the final two frames.

Of Note:

-The Dodgers lead the PCL with a 28-11 record and their 28 wins are the most by an OKC team through 39 games during the team’s Bricktown era (since 1998). No other OKC team since 1998 has had fewer than 13 losses through 39 games…The Dodgers have now won six straight games for the second time this season and have wins in seven of their last eight games. They are a season-best 17 games above .500.

-With Sunday’s win, the Dodgers completed their first-ever six-game series sweep as they won all six of their road games in Round Rock. PCL teams started playing primarily six-game series starting in 2021 and the Dodgers have played 50 total six-game series since…The Dodgers last swept a series of more than four games April 25-29, 2018 when they won a five-game series against Iowa in OKC — tied for the previous most games in a series sweep by OKC since 1998.

-Sunday was the Dodgers’ eighth last at-bat win of the season and seventh win when trailing after seven innings…The Dodgers have now trailed at some point in 18 of their 28 total wins this season, including nine wins after trailing by at least two runs…OKC improved to 16-2 in games decided by one or two runs this season.

-Michael Busch went 2-for-4 with a home run, double, team-high three RBI and two runs scored. He has now reached base in all 24 of his games with OKC this season, and is now on a 30-game on-base streak in Triple-A games going back to the end of last season. His current 24-game streak is tied for the second-longest on-base streak in the PCL this season…Busch has hit safely in 20 of his 24 games with OKC in 2023.

-Devin Mann went 2-for-3 with a home run, walk and two RBI as he extended his hitting streak to eight games — the longest active streak for an OKC player. During the streak, Mann is 11-for-27 with six extra-base hits and nine RBI. He has also reached base safely in nine consecutive games.

-Ben DeLuzio hit the go-ahead RBI single in the ninth inning for OKC and finished the day 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI and two runs scored as he collected his fourth multi-hit game of the season.

-The Dodgers scored seven or more runs for just the third time in the last 13 games...On the other hand, the Dodgers allowed five runs for the second time in the last six games and after allowing one run over the previous two games combined…The Dodgers bullpen held the Express to one run and four hits over the final 4.0 innings Sunday and during the Round Rock series, allowed one run over a combined 23.2 innings.

-Sunday’s game started at 1:35 p.m. after a 30-minute weather delay.

What’s Next: Following a day off Monday, the OKC Dodgers return home to open a six-game series against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys at 7:05 p.m. on a $2 Tuesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. All Tuesday home games feature $2 select beer, soda and bottled water from a line of Budweiser and Pepsi products. COOP Ale Works draft beer will also be available at a special rate of $3.

Tuesday is also Bark in the Park and the first 300 dogs in attendance will receive a Dodgers pet bandana. Water and relief stations will be available throughout the stadium for your furry companion. Owners will need to fill out and turn in a waiver form at the gate in order for their dog to be admitted. The waiver can be filled out in advance at okcdodgers.com or will be available Tuesday at the ballpark gates.
