El Paso 13 Fresno 6 - Monday

One day after being held to one run on four hits, the El Paso Chihuahuas pounded out 14 hits in their 13-6 win at Chukchansi Park in Fresno on Monday.

The Chihuahuas had four hits, including two doubles, in a three-run first inning against former Astros pitcher Jake Buchanan. El Paso's lead disappeared quickly when the Grizzlies scored four runs on seven hits in their first two innings.

Cody Decker's grand slam in the third inning made it 7-4 El Paso. It was the Chihuahuas' first grand slam of 2015. Decker's slam was the only hit of the inning, as the three runners on base all reached via walks. One inning later, El Paso pieced together three consecutive singles to go ahead 8-4.

The Chihuahuas batted around in the ninth inning, sending five more runs home. The rally included a mysterious three-run home run by Alex Dickerson, which hit near or off the center field batter's eye and was originally called an inside-the-park home run by the official scorer. At the time of this summary, Fresno's media relations staff was checking with the umpires on whether Dickerson's home run left the ballpark or not.

Monday's game saw the first pace of game violation in a 2015 Chihuahuas contest when Ramiro Pena was handed an automatic strike at the beginning of his first inning at-bat for not being alert to the pitcher as the pitch clock expired.

Shawn Kelley pitched two scoreless innings for El Paso on a Padres injury rehab assignment.
