Cuevas rejoins Iowa, Schlereth released

June 7, 2015

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Chicago Cubs today made a series of roster moves affecting Iowa's active roster today against Memphis. Left-handed pitcher Daniel Schlereth has been released, and infielder Varonex Cuevas rejoins Iowa from Short-A Eugene.

Schlereth, 29, signed a minor league deal with the Chicago Cubs May 4. He had no record with a 3.00 ERA (1ER/3.0IP) in three appearances. He walked six and struck out three.

Cuevas, 22, joins Iowa for the second time this season. He was last assigned to the I-Cubs from June 3-5. In that time, he went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in one game.

With these moves, Iowa's active roster is full at 25 players.
