Potomac Leading 2-0 in the Fourth When Game is Suspended

Game to be Resumed in Top of the Fourth; Seven inning Contest to Follow
June 20, 2015

Woodbridge, VA-The Potomac Nationals (31-37-Overall, 16-17-Home) plated two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 2-0 lead over the Carolina Mudcats (34-33-Overall, 14-17-Road) at Pfitzner Stadium before the rain came and the game was suspended after a fifty two minute weather delay.

The suspended game will be resumed in the top of the fourth with Carolina coming to bat and will be finished as a nine-inning contest with the originally scheduled game to follow the conclusion of the suspended game and be played as a seven-inning contest to wrap up the first-half of the 2015 Carolina League season.  

First pitch for the resumption of the suspended game will be at 12:00 pm with the gates opening at 11:00 am.

RHP Reynaldo Lopez made the start for Potomac and cruised through three innings allowing two hits and no runs, he didn't issue a free pass and struck out five in the outing.

Potomac, against RHP Andrew Waszak, went six-up, six-down through two and busted through in the third against the righty. 2B Khayyan Norfork singled and moved to second on DH Jimmy Yezzo's single. RF Estarlin Martinez hit a fielder's choice ball on a bunt attempt that had Norfork put out at third base. CF Isaac Ballou then hit a fielder's choice ball again where Martinez was put out at second base and Yezzo moved to third. 2B Adrian Sanchez then singled in Yezzo for a 1-0 lead. 1B John Wooten then singled and Ballou came home for a 2-0 lead and then the game went into a rain delay before being suspended.

The suspended game will feature a pitcher to be announced for Potomac against RHP Britt Robertshaw (0-0, 5.11) for Carolina while the originally scheduled game sees RHP Tyler Mapes (0-0, 2.48) for the P-Nats vs. RHP Seth Webster (3-2, 2.91) for the Mudcats.

Tomorrow features Family Fun Day at The Pfitz as well as a Father's Day Celebration presented by Virginia Department of Social Services-Putative Father Registry. Kids Run the Bases presented by Glory Days Grill, Stonewall Jackson High School Day, Va529 Super Saver Sundays by Virginia529 and Super Hero Day where the P-Nats will wear Captain America Jerseys in the originally scheduled game and there will be a jersey auction during the game.
